Ohio suspect’s brothers deny knowing of captives
Two brothers of the Cleveland kidnapping suspect say they fear people still believe they had something to do with the three missing women found in his home.
Onil and Pedro Castro tell CNN that they’ve been getting death threats even after police decided not to charge them.
Pedro Castro says he would have turned in his brother Ariel if he had known he was involved in the women’s disappearance.
Ariel Castro is suspected of holding the women captive in his home for a decade. Authorities say he kidnapped all three, raped them and fathered a child with one.
The women were found May 6 after one escaped and called 911.
The brothers were initially taken into custody but released Thursday after investigators said there was no evidence against them.

Woman charged in Newtown funds scam also sought Sandy relief money
A woman charged with trying to swindle donors by posing as a relative of a child killed in the Connecticut school massacre had also been soliciting money for Hurricane Sandy relief.
Nouel Alba was arrested Thursday and accused of concocting bogus tales about having to identify her nephew’s body in order to raise money for a “funeral fund” for the victims.
The New York Post reports that in the days after Sandy struck, Alba also posted Web messages claiming she had founded several charities to assist storm victims.
But the postings were filled with false claims, as well as an invalid tax-ID number for one organization.
In an interview with CNN before her arrest, Alba denied being involved in any scam.

Blogger publishes names, addresses of newspaper staff after gun-permit database
A blogger upset with a New York newspaper’s decision to publish an interactive map of local gun permit holders has returned the favor by posting the names and addresses of nearly every employee at the publication.
Blogger Christopher Fountain on For What It’s Worth published names, home address and email contact information for Journal News editor Cyndee Royle, publisher Janet Hasson and reporter Dwight Worley, who wrote an article on Sunday to accompany the map that led to widespread criticism aimed at the Lower Hudson Valley newspaper.
“Miss Royle’s married name is Lambert,” Fountain wrote. “She lives in White Plains and here is her Facebook page complete with pictures of her and her kids. Hello Sanctimony.”
Fountain also displayed contact information for Robert Rodriguez, the “visual editor” responsible for the map itself, as well as many other employees.
Fountain, who did not return calls seeking comment, told CNN he was offended by the newspaper’s “conflating legal gun owners with some crazed tormented devil up in Newtown” and wondered how its employees would handle the same treatment.
Fountain said he has since received emails from “abused women” who were under protective order.
“They’re terribly afraid that now their names and addresses are all over the Internet and accessible through that map,” he told CNN.
The Journal News, meanwhile, has defended publication of the database, which was legally obtained from the County Clerks’ Offices through a Freedom of Information Act request made after the shootings in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children and eight adults dead.
“New York residents have the right to own guns with a permit and they also have a right to access public information,” Hasson, president and publisher of The Journal News Media Group, was quoted as saying in a subsequent story in the newspaper.

Baltimore blogger broadcasts police standoff, surrenders
A Baltimore blogger wanted on a court-issued warrant surrendered without incident to authorities late Saturday after broadcasting on Internet radio his negotiations with police who had surrounded his home.
Police said 47-year-old Frank James MacArthur emerged late Saturday evening. He had remained inside his home when law-enforcement officers sought at around 6 p.m. to serve a warrant issued in June by his probation agent stemming from a 2009 gun case. Authorities said MacArthur had missed a court hearing.
With a tactical unit outside, MacArthur broadcast his talks with a police negotiator on The Baltimore Spectator website.
MacArthur expressed frustration about his treatment by police, telling listeners, “I am surrounded by a bunch of men with guns.”
Lt. Col. Garnell Green said the tactical unit was called in because MacArthur had recently issued threats on Twitter against officers who might try to arrest him.
Green said MacArthur is being charged with a probation violation, and that police will discuss with prosecutors whether he will face other charges.
He said officers have been trying to apprehend MacArthur for several days.
The Baltimore Sun reports that MacArthur has been a gadfly on local issues, and had been posting on social media for several days about his “fugitive” status and alleging that police would try to harm him. He claimed he was never notified about the court date.
During talks with the Baltimore police negotiator, Lt. Jason Yerg, MacArthur continued to express concerns about his safety.
He criticized the heavy police presence at his Waverly home, saying of the negotiator, “He needs to be battling bad guys, not spending his time talking to The Baltimore Spectator.”
MacArthur said he would come out at around 10:30 p.m., but then offered more commentary. At one point he thanked CNN commentator Roland Martin for expressing interest in his case via Twitter. Martin advised MacArthur, “You NEED to go outside,” and also Tweeted that MacArthur’s attorney should meet him at the police station.
MacArthur emerged around 11 p.m. and was taken into custody.
